Another form of discrimination??
- Physically attractive job candidates with the exact same qualifications as less physically attractive candidates (slightly below average in attractiveness) are more likely to be hired for a particular job. Even experienced personnel managers are not immune to the attractiveness bias. And therefore physically attractive people tend to have better-paying jobs in higher-level positions than their less attractive counterparts.
- Good-looking people are better liked than those who don't. And they're more POPULAR too. (Consider the case of prom queen and prom king or whatever it is.)
- They often successful in getting whatever they want.
And, whether you realize it or not,
Most of us like to be in the company of physically attractive people.
We are more likely to help a physically attractive person than a physically unattractive person.
In a public transport, we are more likely to be sitting next to a good-looking person.

i'm doing prejudice in my english class..my lecturer asked us, would you hug a person with d history of rapping a 5 months old child? of course, as normal person, we won't right..then the lecturer said, u are PREJUDICE..she too..

No doubts that physical look is rather important but so is the inner self. I would rather talk to the not-so-pretty one rather than talking to a 'bitch'. I hate those famous people that always make use of their looks. I always believe that this world is very fair. If we are not gifted with beauty, then most probably we were gifted with some other thing...that is something for us to find out. :)

ah foo: Yup, i guess everyone have a certain extent of bias/prejudice whether they're aware of it or not.
nettie, vijay: Aha! Maybe i should've chosen another picture rather than that wet cat to indicate my point.

poems&writings: Yeah, i would too.
emotionalistic: I definitely agree with ya. Unfortunately people tend to judge someone by his/her look rather than his/her innerself.
(p/s: Hope u enjoy yourself when you get to Penang.) May all the best of luck be with ya..=P

To be "prejudiced" isn't always negative: sometimes prejudice protects us against something that could harm us. For instance, a prejudice against convicted rapists (as ah foo said above).
As far as who/what we are attracted to, I definitely saw that in the work world. I interviewed for a job with a cooking magazine and didn't get it because they hired someone slender with not quite the same qualifications as me.
Your post was definitely thought-provoking!

Well put, Jocelyn! I hate to think may be, jus may be I've been hating on anyone. Yet, coz of human nature sometimes we do act very much as u've posted.
Its hard to deny outer looks but with time ahve learnt after all is said and done, soo much is done. Like, Its really what's inside that counts. Its hard but when we put ourselves as those who wuld easliy fall under the not-so-loved catergory no one wants not to be loved. Plus, everyone is beautiful in their own way, not by how they look.
Great post, truly something to sleep on and live by!

I still go for inner beauty. I have known some really stuck up beautiful people....Yes indeed, beauty comes from within.
