Is it sooo hard to make donations??
Went round almost half of Penang island with lean ee this two days, looking for sponsorship for our fund-raising projects. You know what, all we've got is some "sorry-our-boss-is-not-here-so-we-can't-decide-about it" remarks from probably the boss himself. Hmmm...That, in fact is the attitude of people nowadays, when it comes to doing charity. They may own big, big business with multiple branches around the island and yet can't even give out RM50 for a tiny advertisement space in our booklet, nor would they spend RM40 for a ticket.
Everytime we enter a shop, the people there welcomed & greeted us but when they found out that we're actually there to ask money from them, well, you might have guess it already. Yeah, their friendly, sweet, politeness disappeared right away. *sigh*
Everyone in our group is required to sell 10 entry tickets PLUS an advertising space in the event booklet for a fund-raising HI-Tea at Berjaya Hotel actually. But ermm..now i guess we'll have to buy some of the tickets ourselves, if we've still no luck tomorrow. =(

I think you may be a bit naive. You see, the donation industry, if you can call it that, in malaysia is not controlled. Meaning to say, anybody can go get donations for their own benefit while flashing ID tags and pics of their charity.
As for shops, seeing i have worked in my dad's mini-mart for years, you have to understand our situation. If we donate to one of you, then word will spread and all will flock to our business for donations. Plus, the sole purpose of a business is to earn and not to give.
and you can't criticize people for not donating, no matter how much a donation costs and how much money they make.

Din - Yeah, maybe you're right Din. But what has to be done has to be done, even if it means using the naive way. As long as i can get my job done, i don't mind being naive. Anyway, we did finally get one ad space sold today. :p
Thanx 4 dropping by.

It is always like that. But Jocelyn you have pulled it through. Is this the course you were talking about? It sounds difficult but very practical. But I admire your dedication. It is better to be naive than to be passive. At least you get what you must get. And you are learning new stuff and getting hands on experience. There is always ways to improve. I admire you I wish I could join your course. CK
